About Renegade
I started Renegade Multimedia independently out of my experience freelancing as an on-site web developer in the Los Angeles area in 2007, 2008, and 2009. Today, I serve clients all around the nation out of my Renegade Multimedia office in Los Angeles with a focus on giving customer service a good name, and delivering only high quality results - on time, every time - no exceptions. My name is Brad Ormand and I'm dedicated to creating forward-looking, well-put-together software and impressive art design to go with it. But, also just as important to me is providing a seamless work process for my clients (see the Process page) - a process designed to ensure our project's success from the start. The word "Renegade", in terms of what I do, means "denying the normal approach and conquering in the name of greatness". Also, I'm a rogue scholar and I drum to a different beat that your normal developer. (Renegade). But, in the end, I strive for excellence in both software development and exciting graphic design.
During my field experience in L.A., I have had the chance to work on and deploy sites and apps for major companies like Pepsi, Christian Audigier, NASA (JPL), PayPal, the LA Times, Hollywood Arts Society, Midway Games, High Voltage Games, Sega, The Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising, Warner Bros., The Bride and Bloom Magazine, Pajamas TV, and dozens more.
Properly educated in lower-level programming languages like C++, Java, Assembly (embedded AVR and x86), and software engineering foundations like Data Structures and Algorithms in college, I blend my programming knowledge and graphic design experience to produce high-quality, good-looking, and object-oriented web software using HTML, CSS, JavaScript/AJAX, ActionScript and PHP/MySQL. Although I attended college and made good grades in Math and Computer Science, it is my relentless independent study and research that has truly enabled me to excel in becoming a force in the web dev world. I started out as a Graphic Design major at Texas State, and I loved it, but I was just too interested in HOW computers allow designers to create their computer-related magic to continue to ignore the technical aspects of rendering and its software details. So, I dug in and got to the bottom of it.
My father was super-technical, and I had already experienced plenty of engineering growing up, witnessing the master at work. His clients are always very happy with his work because he adheres to high standards. I realize the importance of that. And, my mother encouraged my artistic skills (drawing and music), among many other things like guiding me toward achieving discipline through practice. So, although I dove into computers and electronics as my main course of study, I never gave up my graphic and artistic endeavors along the way, and both are practiced well. I still draw, design 3D models, create UI graphics, and make music every day, and I am very aware of good (and bad) graphic design.
Regarding larger projects, I have many contacts in my practice, in the form of Graphic Artists, Web Developers, Computer Scientists, Web Producers, Technical Managers, and general "Inspiring Artistic Figures" that I can call on to assist in producing a work, if necessary. My network allows me to draw sub-contracts with them if the project grows beyond what I can do on my own in the given time frame. So, I can coordinate a successful lengthy project if it comes to that.
Hopefully, that gives you a sense of what I strive for with Renegade Multimedia. It is very much a personal endeavor to provide web design, web development, programming, and graphic design services to clients in a way that ensures that both parties will be met with happiness at the end of the project.
